Test your personal defense profile

With this test you will find out which defense mechanism you use the most. Everyone uses all five defenses but there is a difference in the degree and form in which we use them.

Using the numbers 1 through 10 after each sentence, indicate the extent to which the statements in the profile test apply to you. 1 means does not apply to me at all, 10 applies exactly to me. Some questions consist of two parts or two statements. Then ask yourself to what extent the whole statement applies to you. If you only recognize yourself in one or the other part of the statement then that means you do not recognize yourself in the whole statement, so then you score low. Take question 22 for example:

“Everyone likes me, but people also often say to me that they don’t really know me very well.

If people usually like you, but you never actually hear them say that they don’t really know you well, then this statement does not apply to you and you score low (1,2,3,4).
